We all have beliefs that serve us and beliefs that DO NOT serve us. These are things that we perceive to be true but they are not.
You can probably spot these from a mile away with your clients…
- I can’t lose weight because my culture loves carbs
- I can’t lose weight because I’m too busy
- I can’t lose weight because I have a slow metabolism
All of these are FALSE BELIEFS. It reminds me of the story of Roger Bannister, the first person to run a 4-minute mile.
Scientists truly believed the human body was not meant to run that fast and if someone did run that fast, they would die. Crazy right?!
Here’s the interesting part, when Roger Bannister ran the 4 minute mile for the first time in 1954 and proved the scientists wrong, another 12 people did it within a year.
Everyone had a NEW BELIEF that served them. Before that they were operating with an invisible lid based on what science told them is possible.
Here’s my question to you…what’s your 4 minute mile?
What’s a belief that is holding you back that isn’t serving you?
It’s easy to blame a circumstance or person or something other than ourselves as the reason. But we’ve seen business owners persevere through every excuse in the book.
Much like the scientists in 1954, it’s YOU that’s holding you back and the beliefs that do not serve you.
These can be tough to spot on your own. We don’t often audit our beliefs and what’s why outside eyes is so powerful. You need someone who observes how you think and challenges you.
Not in a combative way but because they want to help you get unstuck.
Tony Robbins says “the strongest force in the entire universe is the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves.”
Trust me…I didn’t know business ownership was such a deep topic but they say the business is the reflection of the owner. That’s why we have to chase personal growth and develop ourselves because its will improve as we improve.
Remember…what you BELIEVE will determine how you BEHAVE.
